Yes We Can Video

Is it just me or does this video give you goose-bumps? It was done by Will from the Black Eyed Peas and has been watched at least 4 or 5 million times on Youtube already over the past ten days or so. I can tell you that from the perspective of someone outside of the US (and being half American) it really looks like there is already no other candidate for president - and this video more or less seals the deal. In fact it seems like the hardest bit will actually be getting the Democratic nomination. But there's just something about this Obama guy....

I actually kind of feel sorry for any Republicans running this time around because both the remaining Democratic options seem at least 10x better. Then again I guess any realistic Republican knew that there was no way a Republican was getting elected after the last 8 years.

Weekend in Oslo

semi-overcast 0 °C

Mil and Suz came over for the weekend and brought a rather LARGE box of lego which kept Malia (and the rest of us) busy for hours :)

At DOGA they were exhibiting this revolutionary new mask for mine clearers. It's surprisingly light. I certainly don't envy that job, no matter how cool the mask looks!!

To the Munch museum on Friday. For anyone heading over to Oslo, it's FREE entry till the 1st of April. Of course they're still at work restoring the 'Scream' that was stolen a few years ago but one of the two pastel versions is hanging. The National Gallery has the other oil version of the Scream (there's two pastel and two oil versions) if you just have to see it.

Then there was some skiing at Tryvann on Saturday.

A stroll in the Botanical Gardens on Sunday.

.3gp Video Uploaded

Partly for testing, partly to make up for deleting an entry earlier today :)

It looks like our video provider might still have some issues with sound on the 3gp format, but other than that the uploading seems to be working a-ok :) My favourite subject on the swing, her current favourite outdoor activity:

Lantarn night

At the daycare the other day we had a lantarn parade. All the kids made their own lantarns (read: painted some old jars) and we walked around the area with them, hehehe :)
Here's two pics.

Some Malia pics

Keeping everyone updated, here are some pics from last week. Malia was trying out a new hat with her grey jacket, but the hat ended up being returned. Some cute pics though :)

This next one is actually one of her school photos, but we didn't really like it much (had forgotten it was photo day so the outfit was not too smashing - an understatement!). Also, at 20USD, we felt it slightly overpriced

Google Android

and what Symbian thinks about it....

Quoting John Forsyth

"if you are a serious phone maker and you are asked to bet your handsets on somebody, you would want to bet on someone with a track record of delivery and support."

from the beeb

OUCH! It's not often Google gets called out on their terrible customer support, and I don't even know if as the vice president of strategy at Symbian Mr. Forsyth is half aware of how bad it is, but this comment is so true it's not even funny.

The only customer support Google ever gives is related to the areas they make money, ie. Adsense and Adwords. For everyone else there is a never ending stream of clicks and links taking you from one FAQ page to the next to the next to the next .... now seeing as they won't actually be making any money on this 'system', can you guess exactly how good their support is going to be? If you're a serious handset maker, you're definitely not going to be placing all your eggs in this basket!

For the single mothers...

Margit and me have often commented how hard it must be to be a single parent. This kid (Bentley Green) says it smoother than I ever could have. Video via Mahalo

More fall yellowness

It's nice to live in the middle of a city and still have such fall goodness all around. This is taken on my mobile, so excuse the terrible quality.
